2G scam accused A Raja proud of what he has done
"I am proud of what I have done. I did something for the country. Because of me, the calling rate has come down to 20 paise. In fact, it was me who said the telecom companies should pay for spectrum in excess of 6.2 MHz," said Raja to special CBI judge, O P Saini.
Arguing for himself, Raja also said that the pricing of the spectrum and entry fee was mooted upon at the telecom ministry, finance ministry and Department of Telecom (DoT).
"Then, why me only (been targeted)?" argued Raja in the court.
Raja also rejected allegations of CBI that granting the licences by his forerunners were "minuscule" in nature.
"Dayanidhi Maran, Pramod Mahajan and Arun Shourie issued about 56 licences. I issued 122 licences. How come this figure of 56 becomes minuscule in relation of 122?" he asked.
Meanwhile, the accused in the scam, Kanimozhi and A Raja will have to wait more in Tihar jail as the CBI court on Sept 15 postponed its order on framing of charges in the 2G spectrum scam.
The order on all the 17 accused were to be pronounced on Sept 15 by the CBI court.
The accused in the 2G net include high profile ministers like former Telecom Minister A Raja, DMK Chief Karunanidhi's daughter and DMK MP Kanimozhi and other other eminent people from the industry.
