Sexual Abuse
Mumbai, Sept 15: The Goregaon police have busted a sex racket after they arrested a 27-year-old man on Sept 14.

The accused Sudhir Gauda allegedly forced a software engineer to have sexual relationship with him after promising to get her a highly paid job with IBM in Bangalore.

"We have booked Gauda on charges of rape and cheating," said a senior police official.

The 24-year-old victim, a resident of Goregaon (W) works with a IT company in Vikhroli. The victim told the police that the accused conned many other women.

The victim said that she had come across a message for job seekers on a website after which she responded to it. She was then told to get in touch with Desmond Charles and Deep Gupta on Facebook. After she was promised a good remuneration, the victim left behind her number.

"On April 5, Gauda called up the victim and said he was Charles' representative and had a placement offer for her at IBM, Bangalore. The duo met at a restaurant, where Gauda picked up photocopies of the victim's academic certificates. On April 22, they met again and the victim was given an appointment letter on IBM's letterhead which stated that her remuneration would be Rs 11.6 lakh per annum," said an official.

The victim was overjoyed as her income per annum was Rs 4.5 lakh in her current job.

Gauda then texted and called the victim often. After they became friends, he asked her about her ex-boyfriends in detail. In May, the accused showed her another appointment letter where the salary was Rs 19.06 lakh pa. He then told her that she could only get the job if she had sexual relationship with him. Gauda then threatened to reveal her past to her family.

"Between May 14 and July, Gauda took the victim to hotels in Marve, where she was raped. The last time he met her, he promised to get her a package of Rs 25 lakh pa. The victim realized she had been cheated when he stopped responding to her calls. She made inquiries and discovered that the appointment letters were bogus," said the official.

Gauda also threatened to expose the victim's relationships through text messages if she complained to cops.

A police complaint was lodged on Sept 13 after which Gauda was picked from Vidyavihar. He is remanded to police custody by a local court.
