Onam fete concludes with a pageantry
Governor M O H Farook flagged off the procession at a function held at Keltron junction. More than 75 floats depicting different social issues and development achieved by the country in different fields were the main attraction of the pageantry.
Yakshaganam, the folk dance form from Karnataka and Pokali Kuthirakali from Tamil Nadu were among the various art forms that patricipated in the procession, watched a large number of holiday crowd.
Floats were presented by government departments, public sector undertakings and various other cultural institutions.
More than 1700 police personnel were deployed at different points as part of security arrangements. The route by which the process passed was divided into 20 zones and Assistant Police Commissioners were given charge of each zones, sources said.
Besides the already installed CCTV's at various parts of the city, another 75 CCTV's and 50 digital camaras were used to prevent any untoward incident, police sources said.
