Ahmedabad, Sep 13: Gujarat Chief Minister, Narendra Modi on Sep 13 announced that he will start his 3-day-long fast for peace and more development of the state.

Announcing about his fast, Modi, in his open letter to people, stated, "To strengthen social harmony and brotherhood, I am thinking of starting a movement of Sadbhavana Mission. As part of this Sadbhavana Mission, I have resolved to fast for three days from, Saturday, the 17th September 2011."

Modi's decision to commence fast for the development and peace of the state followed the order of the Supreme Court over his role during the Godhra riot in 2002.

The apex court on Monday refused to pass any order on Modi's inaction in the Gulbarg carnage. The Gulbarg case had accused Modi of inaction during the state wide riots that happened due to the Godhra train carnage.

Following the court order, Modi on Monday tweeted from his Twitter account, "God is great!". The tweet from the Gujarat CM reflected how relieved the Chief Minister was after he was cleared off charges which he had to face constantly from opposition parties.
