Rajya Sabha MP Amar Singh
New Delhi, Sep 13: With Tihar jail authorities admitting Rajya Sabha MP Amar Singh to AIIMS last evening, a Delhi court, which was slated to pronounce its verdict on his interim bail plea, today (Sep 13) deferred its order and sought medical report on his condition by Wednesday.

Special Judge Sangeeta Dhingra Sehgal listed Singh's bail plea for further hearing on September 15 while directing AIIMS and prison authorities to submit by Wednesday noon the health report of the MP, who was arrested a week ago in the 2008 cash-for vote case.

"Director of AIIMS shall send a report on his medical condition from the time of his admission in the hospital and on current situation of Amar Singh positively by noon tomorrow," the judge said, adding that Tihar jail authorities will also furnish a "complete report" on his health condition.

Appearing for Singh, advocate Hariharan earlier apprised the court about the MP's sudden hospitalisation last evening.

Seeking interim bail for Singh, Hariharan said his condition had deteriorated in Tihar Jail and was "alarming". This led the court to seek fresh report on his health.

Besides the interim plea to grant bail to Singh on health grounds, the court is also seized of his regular bail application, which is slated for hearing on September 19.

Singh was arrested on September six and was sent to Tihar Jail under judicial custody after he appeared before the court in response to its summons.
