No respite for hospitalised Amar; Bail plea hearing deferred
The former Samajwadi party leader and Rajya Sabha MP, Amar Singh has been admitted to hospital due to abnormalities in the functioning of his kidneys. Charged in the cash for votes scam, Singh was admitted late Monday night to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS).
Sunil Gupta, Tihar jail spokesman revealed that the creatine levels in his body rose considerably leading to the hospitalisation. Creatinine is vital and a reliable indicator in assessing the functioning of the kidneys.
Meanwhile, extending trouble for Amar Singh, a rumour claimed that his lawyer Ram Jethmalani may dump him to please his (Jethmalani's) own party - Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
The speculation started when Jethmalani took a U-turn from his statement during court proceedings on Amar Singh's bail plea over the cash-for-vote scam on Monday, Sept 12. The popular lawyer on Tuesday claimed that he did not accuse the BJP of having played a role in arranging the money in the cash-for-vote scam in 2008 ahead of the Indo-US nuclear deal in the Parliament.
