Bihar turns to Google for help from natural calamities
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar met with the Google India managing director (R&D) Peeyush Ranjan and expressed interest in accessing the weather forecasts. The matter was revealed by an official at the CM's office.
An official has been quoted as saying, "After the chief minister suggested that Google India officials think about providing weather forecasts, the state government is likely to submit a proposal in this connection soon."
This request was made after Bihar was repeatedly hit by one calamity or the other in the form of floods and drought affecting millions of people and leading to losses worth crores. An internet awareness campaign was also launched in Bihar by Google India on Tuesday.
