'Darshan threatened to throw me & my son out of the window'

Bangalore, Sept 10: Kannada film heart-throb, actor Darshan was arrested on Friday by police over a complaint by his wife Vijayalakshmi.

Vijayalakshmi approached police alleging that her husband Darshan beat her up and threatened to kill their child. Unfortunately, one who comes as a saviour of women when they were wronged in reel life, has been held for assaulting his own wife in real.

After her statement, police arrested Darshan and booked him under IPC section 307 (Attempt to murder), 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), 498(A) (Husband or relative of husband of a woman subjecting her to cruelty) and 506 (Punishment for criminal intimidation).

In her five page statement to police, Vijayalakshmi said that the actor was having an affair with his co-star Nikita Thukral in the upcoming epic movie - Sangolli Rayann.

"Few years after marriage went off well. However, things started to change murkier during the filming of Porki, in 2009 in Switzerland. His vulgar behaviour with co-artistes and dancers made me doubt his character," she alleges.

"We were staying on the top floor of a hotel. When I queried him about his behaviour, he replied that I should not question him. In a fuming argument, he threatened to throw me and my son out of the hotel window.

"From then on things were not same, we often fell into fighting. Later I shifted to Rajarajeshwarinagar, due to the constant fights. I have been living with my mother Sumangalamma for the last one-and-a-half-months," she said.

But the ongoing spat between wife and husband worsened on Thursday, Sept 8. According to Vijayalakshmi's statement, Darshan called her at 2.30 pm and asked about his son Vineesh. Later asked where she was. "I'm in my friend Vidya"s house," she replied, which is close to her mother"s home.

The Kannada star went to Vidya"s house in an Innova car and took her in it. She alleged that while travelling in the car Darshan tortured her by burning her with a lighted cigarette and pulled her ear-ring which inflicted wound.

"He beat me with a chappal and threatened me with a gun. He wanted me to return all the property to his name. After this he left me at home. But he returned again at 10.30 pm and started quarrelling. He held our son Vineesh by his neck and threatened to kill him," Vijayalakshmi stated in the complaint to police.
