Russia loses 27 hockey players in worst air crash
The crash killed at least 43 people on board leaving two others critically injured, out of which 27 were players of the Lokomotiv Yaroslavl team, along with 7 club officials and 2 coaches.
"I'm in shock!!!!!R.I.P ..." read a tweet from Alex Ovechkin, Russian NHL star.
According to officials, Alexander Galimov, Russian player and a crew member survived the crash.
"We were shocked by the news of their death," said Tomas Kral, Czech ice-hockey association chief.
"They were not only excellent players, but also fantastic friends and people. This is how they will be remembered," he added.
