Reddy goes from riches to rags;allotted 600 gms rice in jail
For a person who jet sets between Bellarya and Karnataka in his fancy helicopter, has a gold throne in his home worth crores and eats from silver and gold utensils, Reddy will now have to live the life of a culprit during his time in prison. Devoid of all the trimmings of the fancy life he is sued to earlier, he will now have to sleep on the floor like fellow prisoners as stated by jail officials.
He will also bid goodbye to home-cooked delicacies and eat rice, dal and vegetarian curry served in jail for dinner. The Reddys ate khichdi for breakfast. The undertrials are allotted 600 grams rice, 100 grams dal and 250 grams vegetable curry a day.
As an insult to injury, the Reddys will have to stand in queue for food, wash his own plate and clothes and sweep his surroundings. While Janardhana Reddy is prisoner number 697, Srinivasa Reddy is prisoner number 696.
Keshav Naidu, the Chanchalguda Central Jail superintendent stated that the duo spent the first night in jail at the barracks of the reception block. With the court not giving them a special prisoner status, they are being treated like ordinary prisoners. They are sharing barracks with other petty offenders.
The other high profile inmate at Chanchalguda jail is scamster Satyam founder Ramalinga Raju. He, however enjoys special class prisoner status and enjoys better food and separate residential enclosure.
