Mayawati
Lucknow, Sept 6: Defending herself on the allegations made by whistle blower website Wikileaks, Mayawati, Chief Minister, Uttar Pradesh argued that the allegations made against her are baseless.

Condemning the allegations, she said that BSP leaders should ignore such rumours.

Calling WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange mad, she said that he should be put into mental asylum if there was no place for him in his country. She said she was even ready to put him in Agra's mental asylum.

The CM also said the whole controversy was of an "anti-dalit mindset".

WikiLeaks had revealed that despite US considering UP a crucial state, they did not have any high regards for Mayawati and called her “a first rate egomaniac".

The Chief Minister's lavish attitude towards celebrating Jan 15 also had found mention in the US cables.

"Mayawati"s full majority victory in May 2007 UP state Assembly elections left her beholden to no one and has allowed her to act on her eccentricities, whims and insecurities. When she needed new sandals, her private jet flew empty to Mumbai to retrieve her preferred brand," stated the cables. (Read more: Wikileaks calls Mayawati "a first rate egomaniac").

"Mayawati is obsessed with becoming Prime Minister and the BSP will spend huge sums in next year"s national polls," a political officer was quoted by the website.
