Chennai, Sep 6: Opposition DMK members were today evicted from the Tamil Nadu Assembly after they were locked in a war of words with the ruling AIADMK over a minister's remarks, resulting in an uproar in the House.

The trouble arose when Adi Dravidar and Tribal Welfare Minister N Subramanian narrated a story about a greedy farmer and referred to the "greedy" attitude of certain DMK leaders, naming M K Stalin and M K Alagiri, both sons of former Chief Minister M Karunanidhi.

Subramanian's comparison drew strong protests from DMK members, who insisted that the minister should not level allegations without any evidence and were on their feet demanding that they be allowed to speak.

However, this was not allowed by Speaker D Jayakumar, who said the minister was only narrating a story to say "what would happen to persons who are greedy".

Repeated efforts by the Chair to pacify the DMK members went futile, following which the Speaker ordered the marshals to evict the DMK members from the House.
