2G: Kanimozhi in jail, is Karunanidhi's wife the culprit?

Chennai, Sep 6: DMK patriarch, M Karunanidhi reportedly was forced to bring his daughter Kanimozhi into the DMK politics. Karunanidhi's wife and Kanimozhi's mother, Rajathi Ammal reportedly forced the DMK supremo to give his daughter a seat in the Parliament.

Citing the media reports, many started asking - has Rajathi become the bane for Kanimozhi who has currently been lodged in Tihar jail over her alleged role in 2G spectrum scam.

The then US Consul General Dennis T Hopper had sent a secret cable in 2008 which had quoted a conversation between Karunanidhi and his loyalist and a former businessman, Siva Prakaram.

The conversation between the duo was, "(the former CM) did not want to bring his daughter Kanimozhi into politics but was forced to give her a seat in Parliament last year at the behest of her mother who was jealous of the political power of the sons born to the first wife. Tales of the Stalin-Azhagiri rivalry are commonplace, but Prakasam"s comment about Karunanidhi"s reluctance to introduce Kanimozhi into politics adds another layer of complexity."

It also added, "Karunanidhi seems to be having trouble managing the competing demands and ambitions of his two wives and three politician children. Along with anti-incumbency and quarrels with its Tamil allies, how successfully the elderly Karunanidhi navigates his increasingly contentious family life will be important to the DMK"s efforts to hold onto the 34 of 38 Tamil Nadu Lok Sabha seats that it and its allies now hold."

Now, many started claiming, Kanimozhi might not have confessed to such gruesome fate if her mother had not forced her father to bring her into politics.
