A fresh new google doodle made its mark on Monday. This time around it honoured late singer Freddie Mercury in the event of his 65th birthday. The flamboyant lead vocalist of the band Queen has delivered evergreen hits like Bohemian Rhapsody, Crazy Little Thing Called Love and We are The Champions along with many others.

The search engine giant has chosen to honour the legend Freddie Mercury with a Google Doodle that features a video that will take viewers to a glimpse of the legend's life. Another click will take them to the search results under Freddie Mercury's name.

Freddie Mercury is a Gujarati by birth and was born Farrokh Bulsara to Parsi parents who moved to Zanzibar later. Born on Sept 5, 1946 he succumbed to AIDS on Nov 24 1991. He rose to fame with his unique vocal renditions and was named "one of rock's greatest all-time entertainers".

The doodle in honour of his 65th birth anniversary is an animated music video style featuring his hit song Don't Stop Me Now that was written and sung by Mercury himself. This is the second such music video doodle from Google's stable. The first one was on the occasion of Charlie Chaplin's 122nd birthday.
