I-T department has slapped a notice on Kejriwal, demanding him to pay Rs 9 lakh for breaching the terms of his IRS service bond. According to government, his resignation can only be considered after he pays the dues.
However, Kejriwal denied all the charges and claimed that he “violated no bond conditions". Slamming the notice, Kejriwal said, "No correspondence took place in the past four years. The I-T Department sent me a notice on Aug 5 prior to Anna's fast beginning on Aug 16. It seems I-T Department's political bosses ordered them to send me this notice. Government officers have been trying to dig up dirt on me for the past 10 years."
Team Anna has ridiculed government notices terming it as a political move, “a part of the Government's smear campaign against the anti-corruption crusaders."
Meanwhile, the legal minds of Anna squad, Shanti Bhushan and Prashant Bhushan are also under attack. The Delhi police have reported that the controversial CD purportedly having lawyer Shanti Bhushan's conversations with political leaders Mulayam Singh Yadav and Amar Singh is genuine and not doctored.
Even ex-IPS officer and active member of civil society Kiran Bedi is facing prospect of a privilege motion against her in Parliament, over her derogatory remarks on politicians at Ramlila Grounds. In the privilege motion, Prashant Bhushan has also been named along with Kiran Bedi.
However, Kiran Bedi has said that she would appear in front of a privileges committee, meanwhile, Bhushan said that he would move the Supreme Court.
This notice slapping movement by government raises some serious questions, as all this has occurred in days within each other.
