Kapil Sibal gets 1 lakh bribe cheque from man for job
A complaint was filed against the man with the police commissioner who was asked to find out the identity of the man, said an article in the Times of India.
A case has been filed under section 12 of Prevention of Corruption Act.
"The cheque was drawn on Canara Bank and payable to the HRD ministry," said a police source.
"The sender had urged the minister that he should be appointed to the post of registrar or deputy registrar of Central University of Jharkhand," said a senior police officer.
The man has been identified as Om Prakash from Dhurwa in Ranchi. The complaint was filed by join secretary, HRD, Amit Khare.
"It appears from the letter that the cheque has been used as an inducement to obtain favours. The ministry decided that a case should be registered immediately," said a source.
"A team would be soon sent to Ranchi to investigate about Om Prakash and his demand seeking an appointment as registrar of Central University of Jharkhand," the source added.
