New Delhi, Aug 29: Monday, Aug 29 will be marked as one of the memorable days for several sports stars of the country as they have been conferred with top sports awards on the day. Ace shooter Gagan Narang and cricketer Zaheer Khan are two of the prominent stars in the list. While Narang bagged Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna, Arjuna Award has been conferred to cricketer Zaheer Khan.

Tennis star, Somdev Devvarman; footballer, Sunil Chetri; Fly weight boxer, Suranjoy Singh; India's first woman world champion, Tejaswini Sawant are some of the few names who have been facilitated with top sports awards.

All the sports persons received the awards from President Pratibha Patil at the Rashtrapati Bhawan. However Zaheer Khan, the second cricketer who was nominated for the award after Gautam Gambhir, and Somdev Devvarman were not present to receive the awards personally.
