Government plays tough, Lokpal Bill shelved again
According to sources, there will be no debate on Lokpal Bill unless Anna Hazare ends his fast.
Reports also suggest that Pranab Mukherjee and Salman Khurshid met to discuss on the resolution attended by Congress Party's Sandeep Dikshit and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Bansal.
Meanwhile, a notice to the LS speaker has been given on the Jan Lokpal debate.
The debate for Jan Lokpal was scheduled to be held post noon on Friday, Aug 26 (today) and there were indications that Anna would end his fast after a strong Lokpal would be passed in the parliament.
"We will find effective ways and means to discuss Jan Lokpal Bill along with the Government's version of the Bill, along with Aruna Roy's and Jayaprakash Narayan's. All ideas should be discussed and debated to get best possible bill to help us deal with corruption," the Prime Minister had said urging the septuagenarian to end his fast.
Congress President, Sonia Gandhi also stepped in after all the efforts to coax the Gandhian seemed to go in vain and appealed that the anti-corruption crusader end his fast.
