Lokpal Bill: Team Anna to go behind bars?

New Delhi, Aug 26: Anna Hazare's supporters could be held on charges of abatement to suicide if anything happens to the septuagenarian, said sources.

According to an article in MiD DAY, Team Anna could land themselves in trouble under the charges of abatement of suicide if anything happens to Anna, said the Delhi police sources.

Keeping in mind Anna's age, who is 74-year-old and has been on a indefinite hunger strike from past 10 days, his health might worsen and if that is the case, then Delhi police would lodge an FIR under Section 306 (abatement of suicide) against Arvind Kejriwal, Kiran Bedi, Shanthi Bhushan and other members, said sources.

"Everyone has pleaded with him to end the fast, but his team is not relenting. And though a team of government doctors is available for him, his aides insist on getting Anna's health checked by private doctor, Naresh Trehan," said a official.

"Bedi, Kejriwal and Bhushan are talking to the government, not Anna. Provoking someone to do harm to his life is a crime," said the official.

Meanwhile, there are reports that the Delhi police is waiting to lift Anna from the venue once doctors declare his condition is unstable. An other official added that if someone filed a PIL, then police could take action.
