Lokpal: Advani flip-flops from BJP stand on issue

LK Advani
New Delhi, Aug 26: BJP leader LK Advani on Friday, Aug 26 stated that some provisions of the Janlokpal Bill had inherent flaws due to which the Govt might find it difficult to pass it in its present form. Advani's statement indicates his apparent distraction from his party's stand on Lokpal to support Anna Hazare's noble cause at any cost.

"I know what are the flaws in the provisions of the Jan Lokpal bill due to which it will not get passed. And this, I tried to explain to them (Team Anna) yesterday," Advani said. "I also told (Finance Minister) Pranab (Mukherjee) and the government that look, these people are emotionally attached to the title 'Jan Lokpal Bill' so assure them whatever be the final shape of the Lokpal bill after amendments, do continue to call it the Jan Lokpal bill," he said at his residence.

But on the contrary, supporting BJP's earlier stand on Anna's fight for Lokpal, Advani also added, "I am 100 percent in support of any law or legislation that aims at ending corruption."
