CM should come under Lokayukta: Munda

New Delhi, Aug 26: Jharkhand chief minister Arjun Munda on 26th August said he was of the notion that the state chief should be brought under the purview of Lokayukta. He also added that state government would take necessary decision on this soon.

"I have said it earlier and saying it now that I am of the opinion that CM should come under the Lokayukta," Munda said in the state Assembly adding that the government would pass a resolution in the coming days.

Earlier the leader of opposition party of Jharkhand, Vikas Morcha-Prajatantri Pradip Yadav had made a statement that the CM should come under the ambit of Lokayukta to have a stronger and corrupt free government.

The Jharkhand Lokayukta Act gives lokayukta the power to order investigation against ministers, secretaries and other public servants, but it only has powers to recommend action against guilty officers. This might be changed in the fresh version of the bill.

The amendment bill of the Jharkhand Lokayukta act, 2001 is one of the most important bills among various other bills to be tabled in the coming monsoon session of the state legislature, but it said that the final out line of the bill is yet to be known.
