Delhi model dares to bare for the Jan Lokpal Bill

New Delhi, Aug 23: The whole country is witnessing massive upsurge following the anti-corruption movement sweeping across the state spearheaded by Anna Hazare and his civil society team. But little did they foresee that a Delhi-based model would come up with this unique way of protest by offering to strip and dance naked if the government does not pass the Jan Lokpal Bill.

The model Salina Wali Khan has come up with this unique protest since she feels strongly for the cause and she has been a victim of corruption in the system. Salina is also an actor and is presently sitting on strike at the Ramlila Grounds.

She has been quoted as saying, "My decision is not for gaining publicity. I am not like other models who make controversial claims for grabbing eyeballs. I am not doing it to be famous but for the common people." Salina also expressed her differences with the Delhi Police during the occasion by stating that the police did not take any tangible action over a threat call by a female model to her who accused her of making an obscene video.

Salina further stated, "Today everyone is with him because of his honesty and so am I. Today you face corruption at every government office. You will have to pay the babus for every little work to be done. Every one is affected by corruption." She added that she took part in the protest at the Ramlila Grounds on the very first day of Anna's protest.

Speaking to a popular newspaper, Salina stated how she had to pay Rs 500 to a government official for getting her ration card. Adding that this was one of the instances where she was forced to bribe, she said that she was a victim of corruption many other times as well. She said, "Today a person can get a passport on fake documents by bribing the government official. But the person who is in need and is genuine is running form pillar to post. You can't get your work done without paying a bribe."

On the valiant efforts of Anna Hazare, Salina commented, "Is he fasting for himself? No! That is why he is getting support from everyone. He has managed to attract people from all religions, caste, creed etc. So, I am supporting him."
