VS' claim gives Padmanabha treasure row a new direction
Achuthanandan stated that he would approach the Supreme Court with a petition mentioning the complaint of the robbery attempt at the Padmanabhaswamy temple. He also commented that he was only revealing facts of one particular rob attempt.
He added that the complaint was submitted to him by security personnel in the temple who were also ex-servicemen. He also said that these personnel lost their jobs for no apparent reason but for whistle-blowing the whole racket. Achuthanandan said that he will file the complaint filed by these security personnel in front of the Supreme Court.
The latest comment has stirred the controversy surrounding the temple treasure in a whole new direction. With political leaders flaying the comment made by the former CM, Oomen Chandy, Chief Minister said that Achuthanandan's comments were "unbecoming of a politician of his stature." Achuthanandan had earlier commented, "Don't you know that Marthanda Varma goes to the temple everyday. When he returns he carries a tiffin box. The general perception is that he brings the 'payasam' (sweet offering to the Lord). But it is not that. Instead, it is jewels." The comments are most likely to have serious repercussions on the royal family and their allegiance to the deity as the custodians of the temple's wealth.
