God or crusader: Ramlila supporters offered Anna 'prasad'?

Mumbai, Aug 21: As anti-corrptuion crusader Anna Hazare's fast for a strong lokpal has entered its sixth day, his supporters at Ramlila Maidan had a gala time enjoying delightful delicacies.

Offering wide variety of tasty food options the supporters were offered kachoris, bread pakoras, samosas, paranthas, aloo puris, tea, rasogollas, biscuits and half a dozen kinds of namkeens. For those health concious, healthy options like mango juice and bananas were also available.

Volunteers were seen wheedling supporters into having food calling it “prasad" (remnants of food after being offered to god).

"How much food can one eat? My stomach is full," said one supporter Vijay Anand's who was handed a plate of of kachoris.

"They say it is prasad... they just won't listen if you refuse. I'll have to throw it away as I am not hungry," said an visibly upset Anand.

It was a feast time for children who were seen flying kites at the ground.

"I've heard about Anna but I am here with my friends to have fun," said a 12-year-old Suhail.

Water proof tents have also been set up at the ground.

"The earlier tents are not waterproof and people faced a great deal of inconvenience due to rains. Hence, we decided that the new marquee should be waterproof," said an official, Jindal Aluminium limited, which has funded the set-up.

Anna started his fast on Aug 16. He moved to Ramlila ground after he was lodged in Tihar jail and is on a indefinite strike for a strong Lokpal.
