Haryana Assembly adjourned as mark of respect to Bhajan Lal
Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda while moving obituary references in the House described Lal as a seasoned parliamentarian, an astute statesman and an able administrator.
The House also condoled the death of former Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister, Dorjee Khandu, in a helicopter mishap on April 30 this year; former Haryana Minister Charan Dass Shorewala; former MP Rao Man Singh; former legislator Dharampal Singh; the July 13 Mumbai terror attack victims and others.
Bishnoi, a former Congress MP, who floated his own party the Haryana Janhit Congress (BL) in 2007, while paying tributes, strongly objected to Bhajan Lal being shown only as an eight-time MLA instead of nine in the obituary references moved by Hooda, copies of which were placed before the members in the House.
"It is not just outside the House that this (Hooda) government tries to mislead, but inside also, it is doing the same. Bhajan Lal ji has been mentioned only as an eight-time MLA whereas he was also elected as MLA in 2008, which has not been mentioned" Bishnoi said.
