Congress in negotiation mode with Anna Hazare and Co.

Anna Hazare
New Delhi, Aug 19: After the UPA government had to receive the brickbats on account of Anna Hazare's arrest, it seems the govt is regretting its snap decision and wants to better the damages caused by it.

Sources have been quoted as saying to a popular television channel that the Congress is negotiating with certain NGOs from Maharashtra for negotiations with Team Anna. The source also added that the protests were strong in the states of Karnakata, Andhra Pradesh and Delhi. There were also reports on the Congress' belief that the Opposition was spearheading the protest in Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh, with the agitation in Delhi solely because it was ground zero.

The Congress is in the belief that the spurt in protest since the last few days will fizzle out with time.

There has been a small dent in the hard stand between Team Anna and the Government, a fact that was confirmed by former Karnataka Lokayukta Justice Santosh Hegde. He has been quoted as saying, "We want strong a Lokpal Bill. They are saying we are adamant on Prime Minister and the judges, I am saying I will persuade my colleagues not to be adamant on these two issues. But we have differences on eight issues. Let them agree on those issues."
