Gandhian crusader Anna Hazare, now turns a web warrior
There have been tweets pouring every minute. The Facebook page for Anna Hazare's non-violent protest had more than two lakh forty thousand 'likes' on Wednesday afternoon.
'India against Corruption' on Facebook clocked three lakh twenty thousand plus supporters. A separate web page for the movement says that 1.3 crore people rung up to show solidarity. It hosts a list of protests planned across India, with the organisers cell numbers and email ids for easy referral.
The rise of protests from every nook and corner of the nation have been successful through their active participation in social sites. Hence, the technology must be thanked for this. Masterminds and quiet engineers like Kevin Gala, working behind the scenes needs a special thanks for sure.
The IT Engineer behind Anna's online campaign, Gala said, "We have seen support for the campaign grow exponentially over the past three days."
On a funnier note, there is an Anna cartoon doing the rounds online. Angry Birds anyone? And oh - Anna Hazare t-shirts selling online are also being sold for just a few hundred rupees.
