Hazare arrest: Ramdev shows anger, wants to join protest

New Delhi, Aug 16: The arrest of Anna Hazare and Janlokpal Team has sparked for a nationwide protest against Manmohan Singh-led UPA II government. Anna Hazare supporters are holding rallies in different parts of the country protesting government's action to crack down Anna's fast.

Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev, who held a fast protest asking government to curb growing black money and corruption in the country, alleged that the government was not working according to constitution. Slamming police's action on Anna Hazare, Arvind Kejriwal and Kiran Bedi, Baba Ramdev said police was not acting according to the law in the country.

Speaking to an English news channel, Ramdev said the crack down of Anna's fast was a violation of citizen's rights and freedom of speech.

"It's violation of our rights and freedom of speech," Baba Ramdev said.

Social activist Arundhati Roy called government's actions were similar to 1975 Emergency period. Arundhati said, "I have been saying that its emergency like way before."

Meanwhile, Bharatiya Janata Party demanded suspension of question hour in Parliament to discuss Anna Hazare issue. BJP leader Prakash Javdekar had given a notice in Rajya Sabha seeking the suspension.

BJP leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi stated, "Our senior party leaders are discussing this issue (Anna's detention). We will do something in a couple of hours from now."
