Congress Leader, Digvijay Singh
New Delhi, Aug 16: Digvijay Singh, Congress leader hit back at Anna Hazare and blamed him of indulging in politics rather than fighting against corruption.

Digvijay also attacked the Anti-Corruption crusader for burning the copies of the UPAs version of the Lokpal Bill.

"Who gave him (Hazare) the right to burn copies of the bill which has been tabled in Parliament? Was this constitutional? The thing is that he is not fighting against corruption but doing politics," Singh said.

Digvijay further said that Team Anna should instead go to the Standing Committee and discuss their issues, instead of holding a fast.

Meanwhile, there is news that the arrested Gandhian crusader will now have to appear before a magistrate to get bail.

Anna was taken to the General Officers Mess in Civil Lines, New Delhi. The decision of his bail will be taken after he appears before the magistrate.

The arrest of Anna has caused an uproar in the country as people across the nation are protesting against his arrest. Reports also suggest that Anna has been taken to New Delhi's Rajouri Garden police station.

Meanwhile, P Chidambaram, Home Minister in a press conference held in New Delhi gave the government's stand on the arrest of Anna Hazare. He said that Anna was arrested for breach of peace and said that it is not the government but the Delhi Police which laid down conditions.

He further said that the government was not against peaceful, democratic protest.

“Right to protest is a democratic right. The government is not against it. But we have a democratic duty too: To maintain order," Kapil Sibal, HRD minister said.
