"Shammi Kapoor ji passed away this morning at 5:15 am .. Rushing there now .. the flamboyance and joi de verve of the Industry lost !," Amitabh Bachchan tweeted.
"Sad to hear the demise of Shammiji, the YAHOO of Indian Cinema. Ur charmful exuberance & full of life style will forever be missed by all of us, RIP" filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar said in his Twitter account.
"One of finest and strongest men I knew...we will truly miss you shammi uncle....RIP....," director and producer Karan Johar said.

Shammi Kapoor was born as Shamsherraj Kapoor on Oct 21, 1931. He married actress Geeta Bali, but the matrimony was short-lived when she died on small pox in 1965. He was admitted to the Breach Candy hospital died at 5:15am.
