Pune, Aug 12: Five farmers were today (Aug 12) arrested for attacking the police and damaging their property when cops opened fire on protesting farmers earlier this week in Maval near here, killing three of them, after the agitation turned violent.

The arrested farmers, all from Kale village in Maval, have been charged for attacking police officers and damaging their property during the agitation, said Sandeep Karnik, Superintendent of Police, Pune Rural.

Those held comprise Ravi Gardale (30), Maruti Gardale (35), Shekhar Dalvi (33), Nitin Dalvi (30) and Kiran Waghmare (21), he said.
