CBI to probe into Nigamananda's mysterious death
Swami Nigmananda, who fasted for almost four months to protest illegal mining and stone crushing along the Ganga near Haridwar, died at the Himalayan hospital.
The Uttarakhand government had requested the Centre for a CBI probe following the increasing pressure from local religious leaders who alleged foul play in the death of the swami who had demanded shifting of stone crushers from Kumbh area.
The religious leaders and the family of Nigamananda alleged that the Swami was poisoned and suspected the role of local mining mafia over his death.
