New Delhi, Aug 10: Sadananda Gowda for the first time visited the national capital on Tuesday, Aug 9 as the new Karnataka Chief Minister and met senior BJP leaders. It seems that the BJP leaders want to keep Yeddurappa away from the affairs of the state as Gowda was advised to maintain distance with the former CM.

Senior BJP leader, LK Advani reportedly urged Gowda to save BJP in South India from becoming an "individual-centric" party as it was believed to have become during Yeddyurappa's rein in Karnataka.

Pointing at several corruption charges against the former CM, Advani reportedly had stated, "If we had allowed to have Yeddyurappa his say, the BJP would have become the property of an individual, not a democratic party."

Asking Gowda to be freed from any influence (especially from Yeddyurappa's influence), Advani also said, "There is widespread notion that you (Gowda) are a puppet in the hand of Yeddyurappa, and that you will work as a proxy CM on his behalf. You should prove this notion wrong, and rule the state efficiently."

Despite Advani's statement, many still believe that Gowda will become a "puppet CM" as Yeddyurappa was the sole power behind Gowda's successful win as Karnataka CM.
