Bangalore, Aug 9: With the Karnataka political scene on a massive clean-up drive ridding it of corrupt politicians from the system, the latest victim in this endeavour is former minister Katta Subramanya Naidu, his corporator-son Katta Jagadish and the Managing Director of Itasca Software, S V Srinivas. They were sent to judicial custody in a dramatic turn of events following a land scam allegation. Their bail plea application was rejected by the Special Lokayukta Court.

The Katta duo have been caught in the wrong side of law after it was found that they had accepted a bribe of about Rs 87 crore to allot 325 acres of land to software development company Itasca. The Lokayukta who was probing the land scam involving the Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB) found massive irregularities in the land acquisition of land for Itasca by the KIADB. The Lokayukta police also filed a charge sheet on Jul 8 in this regard.

This piece of news comes soon after the Lokayukta court issued summons to scam tainted former Karnataka CM's BS Yeddyurappa and HD Kumaraswamy based on a complaint filed by advocate Sirajin Basha on the illegal land denotification.

Yeddyurappa has been ordered to appear in court on Aug 27, while Kumaraswamy and legislator wife Anitha is scheduled to appear in court on Aug 30 over charges of preferential treatment of issuing mining license to a mining company called Janthakal Enterprises in spite of not holding an environmental clearance certificate. The HDK couple along with Janthakal Enterprises have been summoned.
