The Padmanabhaswamy temple grabbed headlines recently after an estimated Rs 1 lakh crore worth of assets in precious jewels, antiques and gold was found in the secret cellars in the temple. After the SC judgment, it is time for the Gods to deliver their judgment.
The devaprashnam is set to be conducted from Monday and will continue for the next three days. The order by the Supreme Court to assess and evaluate the riches in the six vaults in the temple will be done only after this ritual. The SC had earlier appointed a panel to oversee the evaluation process of the temple riches.
The decision was made after a meeting between Uthradam Thirunal Marthanda Verma and temple trust officials. The custodian of the temple had earlier sought the conduct of the devaprashnam in lieu of the rumours surrounding the opening of the controversial B vault that was shrouded in mystery and much reservations.
The devaprashnam is slated to be held within the temple premises and priests from Bangalore will head the complicated temple ritual. On special focus will be the controversial B vault after it was reported that the opening of this vault will bring bad luck and other catastrophe since the God's would be enraged by this move.
The Supreme Court appointed panel was slated to begin the assessment and evaluation of the temple riches on Monday but was later postponed. Now the same will take place only after the devaprashnam.
