Chennai, Aug 6: After the arrest of its leaders in connection with alleged land grab cases, Karunanidhi-led DMK met National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) to protest against Tamil Nadu government and Chief Minister Jayalalithaa for "political vendetta" on its leaders.

On Friday, Aug 5, DMK functionary KS Radhakrishnan filed a petition to NHRC saying that the state government is acting on "political bias, vendetta and personal animosity".

The petition also accused that Jayalalithaa's crack down on DMK leaders is against the "patent infraction of human rights, fundamental rights and constitutional guarantees". The DMK petition, which named the Tamil Nadu government and the DGP as respondents, asked the direct intervention of the chairman of the NHRC to solve the issue.

DMK leader said in the complaint that "AIADMK government's action is is a demonstration of the violation of human rights."

State government's continuous actions against its leaders angered DMK to file a complaint in NHRC. Earlier, police arrested several senior leaders including Karunanidhi's son MK Stalin, former ministers NKKP Raja, Arumugam and Anbalagan in connection with alleged land grab cases.
