According to reports, the La Liga side will help China in setting up the country's biggest football academy in the southern city of Guangzhou. Not only that, the Spanish football club will also send coaches to help train young and upcoming talents.
Xinhua, the state news agency reported that the management of the touring Real Madrid side had signed a letter of intent with Guangzhou Evergrande for an academy to accommodate and train more than 10,000 youngsters.
The agency quoted Real Madrid president Florentino Perez as saying, "We are working together to establish a football academy in China, which I think is the first step of our cooperation."
And added, "We are building a close relationship with Guangzhou Evergrande. We believe we will be closer as time goes by." The report also stated that both the clubs are exploring the possibility of player exchanges and cross-brand promotions.
