Referring to reports in a section of the media, Karunanidhi said two persons who had filed complaint against Saxena had reportedly withdrawn them, with one of them claiming the police had proceeded with the case despite his withdrawing it.
"The police unilaterally registered a case and this itself shows that those who are not in favour with the rulers are facing such action," Karunanidhi wrote in party mouthpiece Murasoli.
"This only shows their intention to wreak vengeance," he claimed.
Saxena, the top honcho in the Marans-run Sun TV, had been arrested in connection with different complaints including alleged cheating and intimidation and is in prison.
Referring to the land grab charges against his partymen, Karunanidhi once again referred to certain reports and said while similar complaints were lodged against AIADMK functionaries also, no action was taken.
The police sought the help of AIADMK ministers in settling such land disputes against the ruling party members for a negotiated settlement, he charged.
"But complaints against DMK men are blown out of proportion and they are immediately arrested," he said.
He claimed that those who had filed land grab cases against his party workers, including against former minister Veerapandi S Arumugam and J Anbazhagan MLA, did so with an intention to only secure the land with an eye on the rising realty trends.
