Sheila Dikshit
New Delhi, Aug 2: After Suresh Kalmadi, Sheila Dikshit, CM, New Delhi has hogged the limelight after her name has been indicted in the Controller and Auditor General of India (CAG)'s report for causing financial irregularities.

The CM has been accused by the government to cause a loss of Rs 31 crore for her decision to use imported equipment for street lighting. The CM's sanction led to the buying of lights that ranged from Rs 25,000-32,002 each, "far higher than the fair price computed".

The Common Wealth Games were held in New Delhi in Sep 2010.

A company named Space Age has also been cited by the CAG, which imported low-cost bulbs from Saudi Arabia. The company paid Rs 5,000 per light but the government was charged Rs 25,000 for every light. The CAG also indicts the CM of approving the company, despite of its disqualification.

Meanwhile, Shiela Dikshit said that she will only comment after the report is tabled in the Parliament.

The Prime Minister appointed Shunglu Committee also blamed the CM of delaying the government's handling of infrastructural projects. The delay hit back the government who in turn had to pay more in an attempt to complete the project in a hurry. The committee also blamed the CM to step in and allow Space Age Company to supply street lights.
