Dominos Pizza Delivery
New Delhi, Aug 2: Domino's Pizza has landed itself in some piping hot trouble when it had to pay Rs 1.15 lakh to a school student after he was knocked down by a pizza delivery boy last year. The pizza chain prides itself on delivering pizza's within 30 minutes of placing the order and if not they will be given free of cost.

The verdict on the boys compensations was given by the Motor Accident Claims Tribunal (MACT) Judge Dinesh Bhatt and ordered Dominos Pizza to pay the school boy studying in the tenth standard. He was hit by a delivery boy named Ravi Mishra.

MACT Judge Bhatt has been quoted as saying, "In view of the unrebutted testimony of the petitioner (school boy) and the documents available on record, it is prima facie proved that he suffered injuries due to rash and negligent driving of respondent no. 1 (driver of Dominos vehicle)."

The incident happened on Oct 29, 2010 when the boy was riding his bicycle in Delhi University's north campus when he was hit by the delivery vehicle. The boy was hit from behind near the Khalsa College. Both the boy and the delivery man sustained injuries in the mishap. The injuries on the boy were however extensive with fractures on his thigh, eyebrows and other head and body injuries.

The boy was a resident of the Delhi University's staff quarters.

The court ordered the payment of a total of Rs 1,14,682 to the injured boy as compensation. The pizza delivery motorcycle was however insured with the Reliance General Insurance, thus the said amount will be paid by the insurance firm.
