Another massive Rail mishap, B'lore-Guwahati train collided
According to the sources of the Indian Railways, the engine along with few bogies of the Bangalore-Guwahati Express were derailed first and later were hit by the passenger train between Gour Malda and Jamirghata stations in Malda division of Eastern Railway.
The passenger train was coming from the opposite side and failed to escape the collision despite applying the emergency break at the last moment when it noticed the derailed engine and bogies of the express train.
One dead body has been recovered from the accident site but the Railway Minister Dinesh Trivedi refused to accept that the death occurred because of the accident. While asked about the frequent train accidents, Trivedi also claimed that the Railways needs to follow the footsteps of the DGCA and constitute a railway safety board.
The train services at the Malda region in the state has been affected badly. Several local and express trains have been cancelled. Malda is one of the crucial junctions which connects the north-eastern part of the country.
