Govt's version for Lokpal Bill passed by Cabinet

New Delhi, Jul 28: The Cabinet has decided to approve the Government's version of Lokpal Bill draft which will be presented in the monsoon session of the Parliament. Team Anna has expressed their displeasure over the bill keeping the Prime Minister and the judiciary out of the ambit of the Lokpal Bill.

This approved draft will be presented in the Parliament's monsoon session. After the hue and cry that anti-corruption crusader Anna Hazare and civil society members raised over an effective Lokpal Bill, this move has definitely not got down well with Anna Hazare's team. The Govt draft also brings in a limited period of 7 years to take up cases of corruption.

Kiran Bedi said, "The current Lokpal bill is not in favour of the common man." Team Anna rubbishing the draft has described the bill as a "fractured and unhealthy" one. It has been criticised that the bill will achieve nothing and the politicians favoured the bill.
