State Congress President Botsa Satyanarayana told reporters here today that he had asked Congress leaders from coastal Andhra and Rayalseema to prepare a list of leaders who could meet Azad in Delhi as a part of the consultation process.
The state Congress chief spoke to Primary Education Minister S Sailjanath, who hails from Rayalaseema, and senior party MP K Sambasiva Rao, from coastal Andhra.
The meeting with Azad is likely to take place next month.
Azad had said he would hold consultations with the leaders of all the three regions (coastal Andhra, Rayalseema and Telangana) to find consensus on the contentious separate statehood issue. He has already met Congress leaders from Telangana in the last few days.
Satyanarayana also appealed to the Telangana Employees Union to reconsider its decision to go on strike from August 17 in support of the separate statehood, saying that the Central leadership was making efforts to find a permanent solution to the Telangana issue.
