Ahara Karnataka: Documents needed for LPG verification

Bangalore, Jul 26: It's a tough time for Karnataka LPG consumers as the state civil supplies and consumers affairs ministry's website, Ahara Karnataka, went down due to high traffic after government's decision to suspend illegal gas connections in the state. Officials said that till Monday, Jul 25 more than 3.53 lakh consumers visited the site to verify the status of their LPG gas connection. Some of the consumers reported that while uploading the documents needed for verification, the Ahara Karanataka website hanged and they were unable to get the acknowledgment number. Some other consumers said that when they uploaded their RR Number, the website showed the error message that reads, "RR Number Mismatch" and some others received the message that their connection has been suspended. Is your LPG illegal? Click to see ways to make it legal.

"Most of the technical problems, however, were looked into and debugged by Monday. In fact, it is a major reason why the number of visitors to the site doubled over the last two days," said a senior official from the office of the Commissioner, Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Department. Karnataka LPG consumers have to provide the documents within 15 days. Verification of LPG connection can be checked by giving the Ration Card details, the RR number or with the electricity bill details. LPG Connection: What is RR Number Mismatch?

According to BA Harish Gowda, secretary to the food and civil supplies department, it is a violation of law if a consumer has one ration card and more than one gas connection or has more than one ration card in a family, according to Clause 3 of Liquified Petroleum Gas (Regulation of Supply and Distribution) Order 2000 or Clause 3 of Karnataka (Prevention of unauthorised possession of ration cards) Order 1977 or both.
