Steve Jobs smiles; China shoots bad 'Apples' in Kunming

Fake Apple Stores closed
Beijing, Jul 25: Finally, Chinese authorities ordered to shut down the two controversial fake 'Apple Stores' in Kunming, the capital of Yunnan Province in China's remote southwest corner.

The fake Apple Stores in China came to the limelight after an American blogger reported about it in her blog. Soon after it, the fake Apple Store in Kunming hit headlines in major medias. Readers were surprised to see the 'tricks' made by the brains behind the stores as they tried to copy all elements of the real stores, from colour of the paint to the name tag of the employees.

Later, Chinese authorities conducted raids on electronic shops in Kunming city and found fake Apple Stores which sold duplicate iPad, iPhones and many more Apple products.

Kunming government website said that they had raided around 300 shops in the city and found five self-branded "Apple Stores" to be operating without authorisation from Apple Inc.

Apple has just four genuine Apple Stores in China, two in Beijing and two more in Shanghai, and none in Kunming in Yunnan province.
