New Delhi, Jul 25: A woman was abducted by five men, including two college students here after she was returning home from work on Jul 24 but was rescued after the police chased the car she was kidnapped in from Faridabad.

The woman, who works with a mall in Gurgaon, was on her way back home after work with her relatives and a colleague when the abductors stopped their car near Ghitorni Metro Station and dragged the woman into their car after beating the cab driver and her friends.

The woman was saved after the police was alerted by the cab driver about the kidnapping, said Chhaya Sharma, Deputy Commissioner of Police, South.

The arrested are Pramod Singh (23) and Kartar Singh (22), while the other three counterparts in crime are absconding.

"The incident leading to the abduction came after a party in Faridabad to celebrate Kartar buying a new SUV. They consumed liquor and then proceeded to Gurgaon. They tried to gain entry into a night club in Gurgaon but were not allowed.

"Subsequently, they went to the mall where they spotted the victim and others. They had a verbal altercation with the victim. As the women left the mall, the men chased them and intercepted them near Ghitorni. They abducted one of the girls and fled from the spot towards Faridabad," said Sharma.

At around 3.30 am, the police received a call following which picket staff and patrolling parties were alerted.

The victim revealed that she along with her relatives was returning back home in a hired private cab after the mall closed down at 2 am.

"The cab they were travelling in was intercepted and as soon as the driver stopped the vehicle, the men dragged the victim into their SUV. When the complainant and other girls resisted, they beat them up," said Sharma.

The accused also snatched away mobile phones from others and keys from the cab driver, so they could not contact the police or follow them. However, the cab driver had a spare mobile phone through which he alerted the police about the abduction of the girl into an SUV without any registration number.

"At Aya Nagar, they saw vehicles being checked and they immediately took a 'U' turn on the wrong carriage way and sped away. Their plan was to take an unconventional route via Jaunapur to reach the highway connecting Gurgaon and Faridabad so that they could make a hasty exit from Delhi," said Sharma.

"In their haste to escape, they entered an alley which led to a dead end. Police party hit the Scorpio, a couple of times after giving suitable warning to stop. Seeing the dead end, the men were made to take a 'U' turn again and then both the vehicles came head on. Police party rammed their vehicle in such way that SUV was forced to stop," said Sharma.

Kartar was caught near the car, while the five tried to flee, another accused Pramod was caught after a motorcycle party reached the spot.
