Another massive earthquake jolts once tsunami hit Japan

Tokyo, Jul 23: Japan faced the nature's wrath once again on Saturday, Jul 23. A massive earthquake of 6.5 magnitude shattered the northern part of the country.

The sources from Meterological department informed that the recent quake hit mainly the region around Fukushima nuclear power plant which was devastated over the Mar 11 earthquake followed by tsunami.

The quake was centered 40 kilometres below the sea bed in the Pacific Ocean off the coast of Miyagi prefecture. However, tsunami alerts have not been issued yet.

Recently, another earthquake had struck eastern Japan measuring 7.3 in the Richter scale. Japan is still recovering from the massive earthquake and the deadly tsunami that wreaked havoc in Japan in Mar 2011 with thousands dead and rendering many homeless. As many as 23,000 people died with thousands others displaced.
