"There is a problem where we have not been able to procure CCTV cameras. Money is not a problem as such. Whatever numbers are required will be put in. Problem is technology keeps on changing and procurement has been a weakness, right from defence procurement to central police procurement to state police procurement. People are just afraid to take decisions about tenders, about specifications," said Chavan.
Meanwhile, as many as 300 CCTVs are expected to be installed at Ahmedabad.
The plan for the same have been put in place by the Mumbai Police in association with the BSNL officials. After the role of the CCTV images proved to be vital in establishing leads in the 13/7 blasts, the officials finally seem to have woken up to the importance of 24x7 surveillance.
