The prominent names that figure in the report who have unfairly benefited from issuing mining licenses are B Janaradhana Reddy, Karunakara Reddy, B Sreeramulu and V Somanna. Sparing no one this time around, Karnataka Lokayukta Chief Santosh Hegde gave the damning revelations that is sure to have repercussions in the politics of the state.
With the official report yet to be submitted, Santosh Hegde believes that the report might have been leaked. He was quoted as saying, "My report is leaked...But I am sure it's not an insider's job. Obviously there are people who are interested from outside. They must have been keeping a tab. My report is not even printed. In a day or two, I was preparing to give (submit) it."
It was earlier reported that the second and final report by the Lokayukta on the illegal mining scam was going to be deadly and most damaging to major political figures in the state. This longest standing scam in the country was probed by the Lokayukta and the final report was expected to come out in August. The report will also have inputs from the CBI and Income Tax department who have made extensive investigation into the case.
With the top players in Karnataka indicted in the illegal mining scam, now what remains to be seen is how the BJP will handle Yeddyurappa's not-so-clean record in the aftermath of the Lokayukta report.
