EC helpline for UP Assembly polls

Lucknow, Jul 21: The Election Commission today launched a toll-free helpline in Uttar Pradesh for registering complaints related to Assembly polls early next year.

Chief Election Commissioner S Y Quraishi, Elections Commissioners H S Brahma and V S Sampath launched the number and inaugurated the call centre here.

To register a complaint, a person has to dial the helpline number 1800-180-1950 and as per the Commission's directives, action on all complaints will be taken within a particular time limit, an EC official said.

Calls will be recorded and the callers' telephone or mobile number will be registered for acknowledgement and to inform them about the action taken, he said.

Quraishi also launched a CD containing a 55 second appeal of Indian skipper M S Dhoni Dhoni to voters to include their name in voters' list and participate in the "bigger match" - elections - by casting votes.
